Ein synthetischer Azo-Farbstoff. Es verleiht eine rote Farbe, ist aber aufgrund seiner allgemein anerkannten Toxizität seit 2008 in der Europäischen Union verboten. In Rumänien war es vor 2002 nicht erlaubt, als es aus politisch-wirtschaftlichen Gründen zum Färben von Hamburgern und bestimmten Frühstückswürsten eingeführt wurde. Derzeit ist es auch in Rumänien verboten.
